Solar is a Virus map.

Layout

Solar is set in a satellite orbiting the Sun.

Solar has the most verticality out of any Virus map; it has three different floors, as well as ladders and pads that launch players up. There are no handrails in the map, so Infected can easily fall down on Survivors to surprise them, and Survivors can easily kill Infected in lower floors than them.

In the first floor of the map is a wide hallway that connects to a set of ramps in the north part of the map connecting to every floor, a set of two ramps leading to the west room, and a wide entrance to the east room. In the south part of the map is a hole that connects the second floor with the first floor's hallway.

In the second floor of the room, in the west large room, is an open area along with two ramps in the north-west part of the map that lead to the third floor, as well as a doorway in the south-west corner of the map that leads to a long hallway. In the middle of the two ramps is a doorway leading to both the set of ramps connecting every floor as well as the east large room.

In the east large room is an L-shaped balcony with a ladder on it, with a ramp that leads to the third floor. On the first floor in the east room is a large, also L-shaped area, with a slightly elevated L-shaped room under the ramp leading to the third floor that connects to the long hallway in the south area of the map.

In the third floor of the map, in the west room, is a large, L-shaped area with a balcony leading down to the second and first floors, as well as a tiny room in one of the corners that has a hole in it that leads to the hallway in the second floor. In the east room is a rectangular balcony with a ramp and jump pad on the first floor leading to it.

The hallway in the second floor extends across the entire map, and leads to entrances to each of the three floors; in the east side and center of the hallway are entrances to the first floor, and in the south-west side of the map is a doorway that connects the hallway with the west large room. In the center of the hallway is also a bridge in the second floor next to the third floor balcony in the east large room.

• Solar was originally in GMod Tower, though it was previously named Riposte.
• Solar's layout is heavily based on DM-Rankin, an Unreal Tournament 2004 map.
