Catzek Temple is a Virus map featuring launch pads and slippery slopes.

Appearance

Catzek Temple takes place in a jungle, surrounding an ancient temple with tents, scaffolds and vehicles left behind by a team of archaeologists.

The temple is adorned with intricate patterns on the exterior walls, snakes on the stair railings, and a large cat head entrance on the west side. There is a large flooded room inside the temple with a ruined altar in the center and various pots, crates, and spotlights scattered around. One of the walls has a large hole leading outside to a scaffold platform created by the archaeologists. Scaffolds and sandbag barriers surround the exterior balcony, which is accessible from the snake stairs, side scaffolds, and launch pads.

The temple is surrounded by jungle and steep rock walls, with taller cliffs marking the edges of the map. There are manmade structures in the jungle as well, such as pillars topped with glowing obsidian, mine tunnels, and a crashed plane.

Layout

Catzek Temple is Virus's largest map so far, and has a sprawling layout with multiple entrances to every part of the map. The temple is located at the center of the map, and is surrounded by an archaeologist encampment to the west, nature to the south and east, and mine tunnels to the north.

The top of the temple can be climbed up with stairs and logs from the west, south, and east sides of the map, as well as four geyser-powered launch pads in all directions. The top balcony has a square tube shape, with a small room in the center with a hole that drops down into the interior, an L-shaped scaffold platform facing the encampment, and a broken bit of wall that players can walk off of to slide down the temple walls.

The temple's interior is a spacious dark blue room with a ruined altar in the center; players who fall down the hole slide off the altar before landing in this room. There are 3 ground-level entrances to this room on the west, east, and north sides of the map.

The archaeologist encampment has a canopy tent and three two-way tents leading to a launch pad in the southern jungle. An antique car sits between the canopy tent and the temple to serve as a visual obstruction. Next to the encampment, there is a scaffold platform near ground level that connects to the temple interior and northern tunnels and has a curved ramp leading to the top of the temple. The cat head entrance to the temple interior is also facing the encampment.

The south and east jungle consists of narrow walkways surrounded by tall cliffs. Tall pillars and pots are scattered throughout, and a crashed plane sits atop a cliff in the south. The south and west sides have a staircase and log respectively leading to the top of the temple, and the east side has an entrance to the northern tunnels.

The cave tunnels at the north side of the map are a winding set of 3 tunnels connecting the west and east sides together. The tunnels converge at several points, allowing for players to switch course if needed.

• Catzek Temple is a reimagining of Aztec, a Virus map from GMod Tower.
• The patch notes for Catzek Temple's update, 0.16.9.0, provides some lore about the map: "The ancient Catzeks lived in a world secluded from humanity for centuries before vanishing, leaving only their cities and possessions as proof of their rich history. While archaeologists stumbled upon this location in the past, some unknown fate befell them before they could complete further studies. Now with your arrival, an ancient game of Virus begins anew."
