Canvases

Canvases are a special type of placeable item which can display images from the internet.

Details

Canvas items can display images from the internet using URLs, which are applied in the item edit menu (q + right click). Canvas items accept the file types png, jpg, and bmp. The maximum image size is 8192x8192 (DirectX 10) or 16384x16384 (DirectX 11) pixels, but it is advised to keep image sizes low to optimize load time and framerate.

All canvas items also have a glow slider and animation spritesheet support. Many canvas items can use Translucent and Masked transparency modes, only usable with png images; Translucent can cause visual errors when overlapping with other translucent surfaces, while Masked can only display opaque or invisible parts of an image, but doesn't cause visual errors.

Canvas primitive shapes from D.I.Y. can uniquely use built-in textures usually only selectable on Condo surfaces. Built-in textures have a World Align option, which allow them to tile and stick to a specific world position. Any custom canvas images will be automatically added to the Canvas section of the material selection menu.

Players with Intel CPUs (10th generation and above) may be unable to see custom canvas image links. A tutorial to fix this can be found on the PixelTail Games forums.
